Happy Halloween

Spooky boo it has been a busy day:

Daisy went out for breakfast with Nanny Maureen whilst Daddy, Samuel and I went to the movies to see 'Up'. Samuel was brillant and sat still all the way through with his 3-d specs on, mind you he did have a buckey of popcorn on his lap. It is a lovely film but Daddy and I did cry!

After the movies the boys went off to Bluebell railway and I picked Daisy up to go to her first party of the day, Libby's at Spring Barn Farm. Thankfully the rain had stopped by the time we got there and we had a lovely time, we went on the spooky tractor ride and also bumped into Daisy's school friend Libby. It was then on to JJ's halloween party, his mum had done a fantastic job of doing out the place and Daisy had a great time, finally it was Tilly and Elsie's party. We were meant to meet the boys there but they had been and gone by the time we got there as Sam was so tired. After some dancing and toffee apple eating the pussy cat and I finally headed home.

Friday 30th October

It's the start of the Halloween celebrations. Today we hung out at home and Daisy set up a Halloween treat table as Cala and Andy were coming round for dinner and then our friend Vic was throwing a Halloween party for the little people. Daisy dressed up as a funky witch and Sam as a spider, they had a great time looking for spooky chocolate in the garden, eating string donuts, wrapping the mummy, musical bumps and finally apple bobbing.

We returned home to find Cala already here with Tim, we were meant to be going for a run but decided to enjoy the Halloween treats instead.

Funnies...

Samuel wants to know about names at the moment and in the back of the car yesterday he said: "When I am a big boy my name will be Samuel David Forbes Parker" which also happens to be his name now!

Daisy asked me "Will my vests turn into bra's when I get old" and she also told Nanny Maureen "Your not fat, your lovely and 8ft fat"

And finally a lovely, kind things that people do: Daddy was in bed and it was freezing cold (well we are on a heating ban until November) and when I got in my side of the bed was really cold and he let me lay on his nice warm said and he laid on the cold side - one of the many reasons I love my husband.

Ohhh forgot the pumpkin update...

We purchased our pumpkin at the weekend and finally got round to craving it. Sam was keen to get involved and helped scooped out the middle. Daisy and Sam both loved looking at with the candle lit and the lights out and were very excited to show Daddy when he got home.

Some good news

This morning we were up and out early as Samuel had a speech therapy appointment and the fantastic news is he is doing great and he has been discharged, there is no need for him to go anymore. The doc even commented on what a bright little lad he was... I think it must have been the lecture he gave her when she showed him the picture of a steam train. Rather than just saying train, he decided to point out what the different parts were called and then go on to tell her that Grandad Frank works at BlueBell Railway and he goes lots and sees Dave. The poor lady looked like she thought he was never going to stop.

The other good news is the long awaited bunk beds have arrived. Sam needed a new bed as he has been in his cot bed since last year which is getting to small now. We looked for some nice white wood bunk beds for months and finally found some in M&S. We ordered them back at the end of June and they finally arrived today!! I started to put them together and the little people set up a slide on the stairs with one of the boxes which was great as it kept them occupied whilst I got to work. I have put the two beds together but have to wait for Daddy to help me put them on top of each other - I am good at flat pack but not that good.

This afternoon the little people went out for lunch with Nanny Maureen and then hung out at her place for a couple of hours whilst I had a little look in town for Christmas pressies and also finished the bunk beds. I had also lost my mobile phone yesterday so was on the hunt for that. Daddy came home early to get ready for a work dinner in London this evening and I dropped him off at the train station looking very handsome in his black tie.

I picked up the little people from Nanny's and then we headed over to M&S where thankfully my phone had been found (in the changing room, I knew I shouldnt have tried that dress on as we are no position for me to be buying clothes at the moment, that will teach me). Sam bless him slept through the whole visit. We then dropped Nanny off home and had a little cheeky chow main on the way home - my little people love noodles. As the bunk beds werent quite finished, Sam got to sleep in Daisy's room, we put his mattress down on the floor by her bed and they were both so excited. I walked out of the room thinking this is never going to work but they chatted for a bit and then I checked on them 20mins later and they were both fast asleep.

Some half term fun

Well it is half term and the weather has been very kind to us so far. We headed out to Drusilla's on Monday and met up with Flo and Jelena, Daisy's school friends that also have a brother/sister the same age as Sam. We had a lovely day, we went through the zoo, had a break for Sam's coco, then we spent a few hours in the adventure playground before having a picnic lunch with the Larma's. We finished off our visit with a spider hunt, the little people had to dig in the sand for three spiders and received a bag of sweets if they managed to find them. Daisy and Sam had a great day with their friends.

When we went to Lewes on Sunday we saw a lovely tea shop and thought it would be nice to take Nanny Maureen one day. Well it was a lot sooner than we thought as we headed out to Lewes today (Tuesday) and had lunch. The venue was lovely and really nicely done out but unfortunately the food did not live up to expectations, plus we had a 40 minute wait for it. DAisy thought it was very posh and Sam was very good as he knew a bacon sandwich was on the way! I think this tea room would really work in Brighton and I do have a dream of running a tea room - not sure where it has come from but has been with me now for about ten years. I swing from an ultra modern decor to mixed vintage... well it is only a dream.

Pumpkins and a castle

Today we went in search of pumpkins. I had seen an advert that a farm in North Chailey was having a 'Pumpkin Fair' with lots of pumpkins, crafts and refreshments which I thought would be a fun thing to do with the little people. Unfortunately it sounded a lot better than it actually was! The pumpkin's were a real site to see and there were some rather huge ones but the other activies were rather lacking plus no farm animals to see. I think the idea is good, the venue good but unfortunately the farmer seems not to have the commercial thinking to make this the great success it could be. Anyway Daisy enjoyed seeing the pumpkins, unfortunately Sam was asleep in the car with Daddy!

As it was such a lovely sunny day we went on to Lewes and parked by the river and walked up the High Street to Lewes Castle. We walked around the outside of the castle and then sat over looking the Downs drinking our Coco (what Sam now likes to call Hot Chocolate). Since our beach adventure a couple of weeks ago, Sam loves taking Coco in a flask when we go on days out.

We got home about mid afternoon and all chilled on the sofa watching tv.

Jay's home

Well the Parker's have all been busy bee's today. The little people and daddy headed over to Nanny and Grandad's for breakfast and a quick visit to Bluebell Railway whilst I had the pleasure of staying home and doing the house work and waiting for the IT man to fix our computer.

Daddy brought the little people back just in time to get ready for Will's 2nd birthday party at Funplex. I cannot believe that Will is two already, I remember when Rachel had him and he was fast asleep on my kitchen counter top at one week old whilst a Halloween party went on around him.

After a great time at Will's party, loads of running around and climbing plus Daisy must have eaten a years supply of cocktail sausages and sausage rolls it was up to Aunty Jo's to see Jay as he was home for the weekend with Kelly. Jo did a delicious dinner and it was lovely to see everyone.
