As it was raining today was spent enjoying being out having pizza and bowling with their couson's Matilda, Elsie, Mia and Bob.

Camping with Aunty Jo and Aunty Murphy

We dropped two very excited little people off at 4.30pm on Friday afternoon at the Irelands as they were taking Betty Bongo camping for two nights. Never have we been home alone whilst our little people are away.


We had a lovely time, just chilling around the house, enjoying the peace and quiet, the long lazy pub lunch on Saturday afternoon with Andy and Cala, a friend visiting from London, going out on Saturday night but by Sunday morning we were ready for the noise, the cuddles and the mayhem to return and we were waiting at 11.30am to see them back home at Aunty Jo's.


We were greeted by 2 children arriving back asleep. Both were shattered but had an amazing time, Samuel only came back to get clean clothes and for a quick cuddle! On the Friday night my brother and his family had joined them for a BBQ so they got to see their cousons, Saturday Samuel went fishing for the first time ever and loved it, Daisy also tried her hand at it. Saturday night was spent walking in the woods with tourches.


Thank you to Aunty Jo and Murphy for giving them such a great time. Unfortunately Aunty Jo has the photos and we havent had a chance to get them off her yet.

Day 4 in our capital city

We were all shattered after a little trip to the big city so after a very lazy breakfast, some more lying in bed reading and watching TV we headed over to the park on Southbank for the little people to run off some energy before we headed home.

Day 3 in our Capital City

After another lovely full English breakfast we set off for our stroll across Waterloo Bridge to board the boat at Embankment. Samuel was so excited about going on a boat trip along the Thames and loved sitting outside, unfortunately his sister wasnt so keen and spent most of the trip inside. We arrived at Tower Bridge in record time ready for our visit to the Tower of London.

As advised by Nanny first stop was the crown jewels and we walked straight in and got to see them with no crowds which was fantastic, it was amazing to see these wonderful jewels. We then headed off to the White Tower which had all the armour, horses, etc and we were in here for ages as the children loved looking at all the exhibits. When we came out there was a 2hr que for the jewels... thank goodness we went early. We spent the rest of the time exploring the grounds and walking the tower walls.

It was then off to meet Daddy for a surprised lunch at Pizza Express, the little people were so excited to see him (and so was I), it was just a shame he had to go back to work.

After a lovely long lunch we headed over to Oxford Street for some retail therapy, first stop was to get Daisy's brownies uniform, then it was the new Disney Stop, Gap for new fleeces for the little people and finally window shopping at Selfridges for mummy.

We were all shattered by this point and went back to our hotel for a much deserved rest before our big adventure of the evening - The London Eye. Daisy has been wanting to go on the eye for ages but Samuel wasnt so keen! By the time we got there Samuel had decided he wanted to go on so all we went and who was the one that wasnt keen when it was going round... Daisy! Samuel loved it and wanted to go again. The views were fantastic and it was a great thing to do with them, we finished off a great day with dinner over looking the Big Ben and the Thames.

Day 2 in our capital City

We were up bright and early this morning, first stop was our lovely full English breakfast at the hotel, then a hop on the bus to Buckingham Palace as we had tickets for the first tour of the day. We arrived just in time for the start of our tour, the little people very excited to be going into the Palace and I was very excited to be seeing 'The Dress'. We collected our head sets and selected the Family Tour, it was great to walk around and hear what each room is used for. We saw the entrance that William and Kate arrived at for their wedding and then walked up the same grand stair case - such a great thing to do. Each room is so beautiful and filled with such amazing artwork. The dress was in the main hall and looked beautiful. Daisy loved doing the tour listening to the headsets, Samuel also enjoyed it but started to lose interest towards the end. Unfortunately you are not allowed to take photos until you are outside in the gardens. We spent some time in the gardens before hitting the gift shop where Samuel purchased a Coldstream Guard outfit complete with a Bearskin and as soon as I had paid for it he was stripping off his clothes to put it on!

We walked through the gardens to the exit, which was at the back of the grounds so we walked round to the front of the palace just in time for the Changing of the Guards and we managed to get a great spot to watch it from too. We then walked up the Mall, through Piccadilly Circus to Soho to meet Uncle David, Aunty Dawn, Bob and Mia for lunch. After a tasty lunch we walked down to M&M World in Leicester Square - four floors all about M&M's. It was then on to Convent Garden to watch the street entertainers and have a tea/coffee break. After chilling around Convent Garden until late afternoon we headed back to our hotel for some much needed rest.

Dinner was Chinese in the Southbank, a great way to end a lovely day.

Day 1 in our Capital City

What a great start to our little holiday in London. We arrived at Victoria by train just before lunch time and caught the bus to our hotel which is in a fantastic location right at one end of Westminster Bridge overlook The Thames and Big Ben. After dropping our luggage off we went for a stroll along the Southbank and had a bite to eat, there was loads to see and the sun was out so it was nice to walk around. We then made our way to Waterloo Station as we had tickets to see The Railway Children, Samuel was so excited.

The play is set actually on a railway platform, the old Eurostar terminal and the secenery was amazing, so many great effects. We had front row seats in the middle and the best part was when the real steam train came in, Samuel nearly fell off his chair.

We were all shattered after such a busy day so we stopped off at M&S for some supplies before heading back to the hotel. It was then a quick swim in the pool, suppa and an early night as we have a busy few days ahead.
