Happy Halloween

Half term week

I cannot believe that we are at the end of half term already, where has this year gone? I have been quite poor with taken photos and updating the blog recently so here is what we have been up to in the half term.

• Went to see the Children's fireworks in Lewes
• Mummy did the Great South Run
• Had lunch at Uncle Carl's & Aunty Gill's
• Had a few lazy mornings in bed cuddling and watching TV
• Went swimming with Mummy & Nanny Maureen
• Had dinner at Aunty Jo's & Uncle Murphy's
• Went to Bodiam castle
• Saw the Kent & Sussex Steam railway
• Had lunch at Pizze Express
• Went to the movies
• Did some painting
• Carved pumpkins
• Made short bread with Nanny Anne
• Went to Rachel's house for a playdate

Friday 29th... Bodiam Castle

Today we had a very rear treat during half term, Daddy had a days holiday from work! So we took full advantage of our National Trust Membership and headed off to Bodiam Castle near Hastings.

Thankfully the rain held off and we expolred the castle and completed the Halloween challenge where the little people received gold coins from a very scary lady (even I was scared), see pics below.

After a few fun filled hours at the castle we walked over to the Bodiam Station for Kent and East Sussex Steam Railway which was just over the road. SAm was delighted as he got to see a train come in and then leave again.

On the way home we stopped off in Lewes for suppa at Pizza Express before heading home for some relaxing.

Great South Run - 10miles

This morning Cala, Dawn and I went for a 10mile jog around Portsmouth Harbour it also happened to be the Bupa Great South Run! Unfortunately despite our grand plans when signing up for this run (just after finishing the Brighton Marathon) Cala and I had only managed about 4 training jobs and they were no more than just under three miles each time so it was with great surprise that we finished it and also not a bad time 1hr 50mins... think what we could do if we trained!


After our fantastic performance we sat patiently in our car for at least an hour waiting to get out of Portsmouth with the other 23,000 runners! Our next destination was Carl and Gills house where Carl had cooked a very delicious lunch... Carlos Lasagna, we renamed it chicken lasagna sounded pretty disgusting but I have to say after going 'urrrrrrr' when my mum told me what we were having for lunch it was a very tasty lunch finished off with some great desserts and enjoyed with some great company. Thank you to the Petersfield Forbes's for your hospitatility and delicious lunch and thank you to the Irelands, Parker's and Motspur Park Forbes's for your woops and cheers along the route.

Bang bang bang... arhhhhhhhhhh

This evening we went over to Lewes with Cala, Andy, Aunty Jo and Uncle Murphy to see the Children's bonfire parade and fireworks. We arrived to see the parade and whilst it made its way through Lewes we dashed (walked very fast) into the town for a fish'n'chip suppa and then dashed back up the hill to see the end of the parade and watch the firework display. Unfortunately by this time it was a little chilly and Sammy boy was shattered. So the night finished with Sammy throwing his sausage up to the bangs of the fireworks and Daisy loving watching the fireworks with the rest of the gang.

Rainbows and girlguiding for 100 years

Daisy goes to Rainbows once a week and this evening she went to a celebration of 100years of Girl Guiding. She had a great time as she got to spend time with Brownies and Guides (the older groups) and do lots of fun activities along with making her girl guiding promise on a live link with hundreds of other Rainbows across the country.

Us Parker's love getting a parcel in the post

Back in the summer we had a lovely student called Lucia and she very kindly bought Sam and Daisy a present when she came, unfortunately Daisy's didnt fit her they were red with white spots flamenco shoes. Now I dont like to use this word but Daisy was gutted, here she was being given her first pair of shoes with a heel and they were about three sizes too small, no matter how hard she tried to ram her foot in, it just wouldnt go. Lucia then took them back with her and to our surprise Daisy received a parcel in the post today and what was in it, not only the flamenco shoes that were the right size but a matching necklace, bracelet and clip on ear-rings - she nearly fell over with excitment, she did not know what to put on first.

A huge THANK YOU to Lucia for this wonderful present and making one very 6yr old girl very happy. xxx

Dig Dig Dig Diggerland

Today we went to Diggerland in Kent to celebrate Will's (one of Samuel's friends) 3rd birthday. I must admit I hadnt really thought about what kind of day it was going to be just a fun day for the boys but I think the mum's ended up having more fun and lots of laughs.


We arrived mid morning and the first thing Sam and I did was climb into a JCB and dig a big hole and make a huge mound out of the mud from the hole, it was great fun but scary as everytime the arm went up the cabin tipped back abit. Then it was on to the JCB roundabout and I must say the H&S of it could be questionable but the boys loved it. After more digger and tractor driving it was time for lunch, very kindly supplied By Rachel, Will's mum.

After a delicious picnic we headed on to the tractor train which took us around the park and then Samuel drove an electric car all on his own around a track - he did a fantastic job and was so proud of himself. We then went on a ride that look very calm - basically a tractor with a plate in the front with three rows of seats. Rachel was coxing Sam on saying it didnt go up in the air and the first thing it did was go up in the air to about 5ft and the literally bounced and spun us around a muddy field for five minutes - I dont think I have laughed so much in a long time - the boys and us mums lived it. We had time for a quick go in the 4x4 off road car before heading home.
