Out with the old and in with the new
The last day of 2009 was spent chilling and preparing for 'Forbes's got talent' party at ours.

Relaxing and eating...
that is what we have mainly been doing for the past few days!
Boxing day we went up to London to spend it with John and his family, this has turned into a bit of a tradition now with us going up there, the little people disappearing with John and Elaine's children to play with their endless toys and the adults chatting and enjoying a turkey curry.
27th was spent at Nanny Anne's and Grandad's. Nanny Anne cooked a delicious lunch and it was a chilled afternoon most of it I spent ready - bliss.
28th we relaxed at home and Sam went out on his bike
29th we had our friends John and Sarah round for lunch with their girls John and Evie, the little people disappeared into their bedrooms and the four adults talked about men, women and marriage - was an interesting conversation at times!
30th The little people went to Bluebell railway with Nanny Anne and Grandad whilst daddy and I went into town to see if he could get some work shoes and ended up getting some shoes for Daisy and Samuel. We had a peaceful lunch, it was nice to spend some time alone in the day.

Christmas Day
Grandad and Nanny Anne arrived and they dashed out with Tim and the little people to church whilst I did the prep for dinner. When they got back Samuel couldn't wait to get on his bike so we all went outside and it took a while as he kept pedaling backwards!!!!! But he got there and was soon whizzing off down the road!
Nanny Maureen was working so Tim went to pick up and we then had another round of present opening, Daisy scored a pair of roller skates and Sam a vintage Thomas the Tank Engine toy which he loves. It was then time for Christmas lunch, we had secret santa with the rule it was something you wore during Christmas lunch. Grandad had a bow tie and red nose, Nanny Anne Santa gloves, Daisy a bride tiara, Samuel an elf hat, Tim a range of hairy facial attachments (see pics below) and Nanny Maureen and I a head band with plaits.
The rest of the afternoon was spent eating, drinking, watching tv, playing trains, watching Sam ride his bike and just relaxing.

Mum he's been.... they announce at 4.30am!
It's was dark and it felt like we had been woken in the middle of the night... we had! It was 4.30am and a little lady was shouting 'He's been' and we could hear the little fella saying 'wow, nice, wow' - yep they had found their stockings and there was no going back to sleep. So we sat up in bed and opened our stockings, we then ventured down stairs to see if there was anything else and there was... a desk for the little lady and a bike for Sam. We then did present opening and unfortuantely still no sign of going back to bed so I got on with preparing the dinner and the little people played with all their new bits whilst Daddy had a bath.

Christmas in our house!
My mum (Nanny Maureen) very kindly gave me the angel that used to sit at the top of her Christmas tree for as long as I can remember. She did need a little attention to get her back into shape i.e. glueing her arm and wings back on but now she looks as good as new and I hope to pass on to Daisy when she grows up for the top of her tree.
Some other Christmas traditions we have:
1. We always go as a family to buy our Christmas tree
2. Daddy always puts the star but now fairy on top of the tree
3. Daisy always puts the robin on the tree
4. The little people have a tree in the kitchen that they decorate with their own decorations
5. We go to see FC and the Christmas lights in London every year
6. We go to see a panto
7. We eat Turkey on Christmas day
8. Daddy always does his wrapping on Christmas eve
9. FC leaves our stockings at the end of our beds and our big present by the fire place
10. We make home made Christmas decs

Christmas Eve
This morning started off nice and slowly, hanging out at home making some ymmu things for Christmas lunch (trifle, pigs in blankets and crab cakes). Unfortunately Daddy had to work this morning so after lunch the little people and I went to see Alvin and the Chipmonks 2 which they both loved and thankfully wasnt too painful for me either.
After the movies we did some more hanging out at home with Daddy this time and then headed over to Aunty Debby and Uncle Keith's for a couple of hours. The little people had a lovely time as they got to see Elsie and Tilly and also Father Christmas paid them a visit.
It was then time to head home as we still had to put out a carrot and water for the reindeer and a mince pie and milk for FC. Very exciting job.

Ho Ho Ho
Today the little people and I went to London with Angela. IT has become a tradition that we go to London prior to Christmas to see the lights, shop windows and FC.
We had a picnic lunch on the train and first stop was Fortum and Mason's to get some last minute Christmas pressie's, Daisy asked if they Queen got her food shopping from there and a lovely chap (that also happens to look after the Prince of Wales) told her all about the Queen's food shopping. We then walked up Regent Street to Hamleys where we spent at least an hour and a half playing with all the toys. After Hamleys we walked up to Oxford Circus and then along Oxford Street to Selfridges to see Father Christmas. Selfridges do FC so well and Sam loved going on the train. We were very hungary afterwards so we grabbed a bite to eat, admired the Christmas lights and then headed home.
