Daddy coming home countdown: 2 sleeps to go

Sunday 25th January
We had a relaxing morning at home with Daisy having a very rare treat of breakfast in bed in mummy and daddy's bed. I thankfully got a bit of a lay in this morning as Sam didnt wake up until 7.45am and Daisy 8.15am - pure bliss.

Aunty Debby, Uncle Keith and Nanny Maureen came for lunch today which was really nice as we dont get to see Debby and Keith a lot. Daisy loved having Debby over as she is a school teacher so they did school stuff like taking the register and learning to write.

After an afternoon of lots of food and chatting, the little people and I chilled out in front of the tv. Then it was suppa, bath and hair wash, story time and bed for the little people and work on the computer for the rest of the evening for me.

Saturday 24th January

This morning Daisy went to dancing with Nanny Maureen and then met Aunty Jo for lunch. She had a great time at Donatello's and Nanny said she was fantastically behaved and had great table manners which is always nice to hear. Sam got the short end of the straw and was hanging out with me at home, mind you we did read lots of stories and play trains alot. We also did some real drilling which Sam thought was great fun. We put a new rack for their pens and crayons by their easel. Nothing else to report for the day just a day chilling and being at home. We did get a Chinese takeaway in the evening as both Sam, Daisy and I love chinese food. Daisy made sure that we didnt eat the crackers in the car on the way home we had to wait until we were at the table!!

We were up nice and early (5.30am) thanks to Samuel! Daisy is learning all about space at school at the moment and one of her home projects is to make a spacemans helmet, so that is what we set about doing this morning. Wish daddy was home to do it as he would have done a far better job - turner out more like a robots head!

It was then school and playgroup for the little people and work for me. I will be glad when next Thursday comes as that is the last event for me in a while, so no more work which is great for me but not so for the bank balance!

Nanny Maureen picked Sam up so I could get on with work. In the afternoon we hung out at home and Cala came over for dinner and to hang out with the little people as I went out for a drink with the mum's from Daisy's school, which was nice.

This morning Sam had playgroup and Daisy school so I went into work for a few hours. I also had the idea of trying to paint the hall whilst Tim is away, so got the paint and brushes out of the shed, Sam always follows me out to the garden and when I came back out after taking some stuff in my little sammy boy was trying to help his mummy bu struggling up the garden with two big tins of paint! Such a cutie.

After school we had a playdate, Helena and Lucas came to play, the little people had a great time.

Daddy coming home countdown: 9 sleeps to go

After we dropped Daisy off at school, Sam had socca tots and I hoped to get a great shot of him playing football but I was only allowed to use my camera if I did not get any of the other children in the photo which proved very hard! Anyway a couple of pics below. We then stayed on at Westows (indoor softplay) for half an hour and for the first time Sam went off on his own and played so I think there will be lots more visits there!

I had to pop into work for a few hours so Sam was rescued by Nanny Anne and Grandad and taken off to see his aunty Susie and then they picked up Daisy on the way home. By the time I was home they had made a lovely trifle and spoken to Daddy on the phone.

Daisy was very proud of herself today as she got a sticker for good behaviour at school.

Not much to report...

This weekend has been pretty low key without Daddy. Saturday morning Daisy went to tap and ballet with Nanny Maureen and met up with some old friends from disco dancing and went over to Hove Park for a play. Sam and I ran some errands and then met Nanny and Daisy back at the house where we just hung out for the rest of the day. Daisy was very excited as Nanny Maureen was having a sleepover.

This morning we were up nice and early thanks to the little people - why do they not understand the pleasure of lay-ins!!! After breakfast we headed to Ikea to pick up a shelving unit for Daisy's room as she had nothing to put her books on. We got home mid afternoon and whilst the little people had a nap I relaxed in the comfort of my bed watching tv and reading a magazine for an hour - pure bliss. It was then all go when they woke up, a call from Daddy, dinner, more ambalances outside our house (we are the end of three houses in a row and unfortunately John died on Tuesday (in the house at the other end) and Anthony died yesterday (house in the middle)) and then putting together the new shelving unit which didnt take long. Daisy had great fun filling it up with her books and toys, I have never seen her so keen to tidy her room before. Unfortunately she doesnt have the biggest room so it looks a little cramped now but at least she has a place for everything.

The little people are fast asleep and I am shattered! Doing this parent thing on your own is hard work. We are missing Daddy and cant wait for him to come home (only 10 more sleeps).

Hello Daddy, we miss you

Daddy is away snowboarding in Whistler, Canada at the moment so Grandad lent us his camera today so we could take some photos of the little people as Daddy is missing them.

Daisy had school today, I worked for a few hours and Sam pulled the lucky straw as he got to go to the Sealife Centre with Grandad and Nanny Anne. We all then returned home and had dinner together. Daddy phoned us from Canada and it was lovely to speak to him. We miss you Daddy and wish we were there with you. xxx

This weekend has been busy, on Friday Daisy had her lovely blonde hair cut at the local salon. Saturday she had tap and ballet and then Grandad and Nanny Anne picked her and Sam up and took them off for fun times whilst Daddy and I cleared out the big loft, sorted out the stuff in the loft and then insulated it. Took six hours all in all and was hard work.

Daisy and Sam got to sleep over at Nanny and Grandad's and had a great time, unfortunately we were too tired to take the opportunity of hitting the town but we did pop into town for supper and then had a great lie in with the papers and a cooked breakfast...bliss.

We picked Nanny Maureen up and then went to get the little people. Nanny Anne did a delicious lunch so a huge THANK YOU to her.

The little people are sleeping whilst I am updating the blog and Daddy is packing as he is going away snowboarding until the 28th Jan - we are going to miss him so much. He is taking our camera so need to sort something out to take pics of the little people whilst he is away.

Happy Birthday Cala

We had a nice start to 2009, we woke up to snow on Monday 5th and Daisy started school full time (9am to 3pm) along with all her friends which she loves. Samuel started Soccatots the same day and had a great time running round kicking and throwing the ball for 45mins.

Tonight we had the Ireland's and Nanny Maureen over for a celebratory dinner for Cala's 27th birthday. Daisy did the table and made the arrangements and did a fantastic job. She wanted to do the table like Aunty Jo does, as she told me Aunty Jo always does a lovely table - its funny what little people take in!

Happy New Year!

Gees what a busy day, it was an early start for the little people and us which we are not used to as they having been getting up late recently but it was the usual 6.30am this morning, must be the start of a new year. After breakfast we sang 'Old Langs Eye' as we were asleep at midnight, although it was mainly Tim and I going la la la as we had forgotten most of the words along with the children laughing.

We started on the Christmas decs and got those down and packed away. I then cleaned the house whilst Daisy laid in my bed watching tv and Daddy and Sam hit the park. We then picked Nanny Maureen up from work at lunch time, came home had lunch and then we popped to the shops as she wanted to get the little people a bean bag each, hopefully to encourage Sam to sit further from the tv screen and not the usual 5cms and its worked - well done Nanny! Although I told him that Nanny had got him a present and when he saw the bean bag he was all excited grabbed it and said 'Open, open' thinking there was a present inside, took a while to sink in what it actually was!

Nanny then kept the little people entertained downstairs whilst Tim and I insulated our loft... part of our new year plan to increase the energy effiency of our house. Once the leak on the kitchen window is fixed, the cavaity wall insulation will be going in (not by us though).

Tim then cooked us all dinner... little bit worried DIY and cooking by Tim all in one day... long may it carry on!

Well done to cousin cala who wins the award for 'Party animal of 2009' she didnt stop celebrating New Year untill 1.30... thats this afternoon not this morning.
