There are days our little boy drives me nuts but there are days he melts my heart and today was a melting day...
At 1.30pm he asked: Can we go get Daisy from school now cos I love her soooooooo much, mum I love my sister, I love my mum, I love my dad, I love my brother (he doesnt have one but I didnt want to stop him spreading his love)!
We of course had his daily saying off: I need my Daddy, I want to cuddle my Daddy.
He is loving his new scooter and has mastered it very well other than the brake. I have tried to show him how to use it and now when he stops he says look mum I used my brake! What he actually does is use the tip of his shoes to slow down, then jumps off, stops, then puts his foot on the brake and announces he has used it. It's a pretty cute routine!!
At bedtme he decided that he would read us a bed time story, it went something on the lines off:
One day there was a little mummy, she was cooking potatoes, the machine broke down, that's a hoover! One day there was a little mummy and we went to the farm. One day there was a little mummy. The End
There was another couple of sentences but cannot remember the detail. He was so very proud of himself.
Daisy then shocked both Tim and I and took the book off Sam and read it cover to cover, we couldnt believe it and are very proud of our little girl. If you are wondering the book was called 'My mummy is fantastic'. So a big WELL DONE to Daisy as reading practice has not been going to well recently with her telling me she doesnt have to read to me as she reads in her head, I explained that I had to hear to make sure she could read the words and her reply was that I didn't read aloud when reading a book or magazine so why should she. I could see where she was coming from but I also could see that she thought she was getting out of reading practice with that one. It didnt work though.

Lovely end to a lovely day
Firstly a very big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Aunty Jo. We hope you had a lovely time in Germany with the other Ireland's!
During the big clear up of the Dinosaur party we received a call from our friends John and Sarah saying they were going to head to the beach around 4.30pm for a bbq. Even though we were all quite tired from a busy weekend we didnt want to miss an outing to the beach incase it is our last this year before the weather turns. So it was a supa quick clear up, we then packed some suppliers, grabbed buckets and spades and we were off.
Sam, Daisy, Evie and Maisy had great fun playing in the sand with their buckets and spades. The burgers and sausages tasted yummy off our beach barbie. By the time we had eaten it was around six oclock and it had suddenly turned really chilly so we headed back to John and Sarah's for a cuppa where the little people entertained themselves in the play room - bliss!
As we were leaving their was a beautiful sunset and Tim has the idea of driving until the little people fell asleep so that we could pop them into bed and have a nice chilled evening. It worked a treat we drove the coast road to Worthing - which Tim had never done (I think he has but just forgotten) and by the time we were on our way home both of the little people were fast asleep.
It has been a fun packed weekend with my family and my favourite part of it was when... we were on the way to the beach this afternoon and my sammy boy said 'mummy' ... 'mummy' (I didnt answer the first time) 'My mummy, I love my party' It made the hours of painting and sticking dinosaur stuff all worth while.

It's party time!
It's finally here... the day Samuel has been so excited about for weeks. Our little fella loves birthdays, it doesnt have to be his as long as there is a cake and he can sing Happy Birthday he is happy. Thinking about it I think Happy Birthday is his favourite song to sing.
This will be Samuel's first birthday party where it is HIS friends coming, not our friends children, Daisy's friends or family. Sam's friend's from playgroup, etc. On the invite list was:
Zack, Ed and Preston - his mates from playgroup
Ed and Flo - Daisy and Flo go to school together and Ed and Sam have become buddies
Tilly and Elsie - Sam's 2nd cousins who he loves to see
He is not three until the 4th October but I have a race that day and we have the family coming over for lunch in the afternoon so thought it would be best to have a seperate party for his friends otherwise they get a little lost in the crowd.
Sam couldnt decide on what party he wanted, it was between a Thomas, Pirate or Dinosaur theme and finally he chose Dinosaurs. As many of you that read the blog will know I had real trouble finding a nice dinosaur theme and other than the plates and table cloths, I ended up making everything myself.
It was the usual mad rush to get everything ready for when his guests arrived at 11.30am. The next two hours were filled with lots of laughter, dancing, bouncing, hammer banging and lots of noise:

As it was such a warm day, Dino water was on hand

Each guest was given a bag and was told that the Dinosaurs had laid some eggs in the garden and they were to find two each

September summer
We woke up to another lovely warm sunny day today, we are being quite spoilt at the moment with the weather. It was a relaxing morning in the parker household, the little people and Tim went over to his mum and dad's for breakfast whilst I caught up with a few chores and prepared lunch as we had an old school friend of Tim's coming for lunch with his family.
It was such a nice afternoon we ate lunch in the garden. Tony and Natalie's two children are 8 and 11, so Sam and Daisy were happy to be entertained by them whilst the adults caught up over a long lunch. After all that food we went for a walk along the sea front as they had never been to Brighton beach before. Its times like this that I realise we are really lucky to live so near to the sea and we do take it for granted that it is near enough at the end of our road!

Two days to go
Firstly HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO JAY - we miss you and Sam misses his dog Reggie!!
The excitement is building in the Parker household as Samuel is having his first birthday party where it is just his friends coming this weekend. The past two years he has had our friends children and family.
I dropped him off at playgroup and hit the supermarket for the party food and last minute party supplies and met up with Nanny Maureen and we had a coffee. It was nice to spend some time with my mum on my own with out the interruption of the children although at the moment she is quite poorly with a cold so hopefully she will get better soon.
We then went to pick Sam up from playgroup and the table and chairs we are borrowing for his party. Nanny Maureen then gave Sam his birthday present a Micro scooter, he was beside himself with excitement. He already has a scooter but it is a rather large Thomas one which isnt great for when we do the school run. He had been admiring the other siblings micro scooters for some time now so was very chuffed with his present. He tried it out in the house first and then we let him loose on the streets! A huge THANK YOU to Nanny Maureen for such a great present.
Nanny wasnt feeling too good so we took her home. I was planning to walk with Sam on his scooter but he feel asleep so off we went in the buggie. We picked Daisy up, hit the park before walking back home and on the way I made an expensive purchase but it couldnt wait any longer!! It was GHD straigtners, mine blew up a couple of weeks ago and I just couldnt manage anymore with out a set!
At home it will was chill out and cake making time before a suppa of Toad in the Hole!!

Our little fella
I think I have mentioned before on the blog that our little fella has grown up some what in the past few weeks. He is now a little boy. He loves to try dressing himself at the moment and is so proud when he gets his pants and trousers on, even if the trousers are the wrong way round. He comes over puts his arms out and says " da durrr, clap mummy clap" so we all clap and then put them on the right way.
Last school term he really loved playgroup but on the way in the mornings this term he has been getting so upset saying that he wants to stay at home with his mummy. He is giving no reason and when I leave him he is in floods but then within five minutes he is ok, sometimes his little lip wobbles but he tells Laura he is fine - his new saying is "I am fine". Other things he says alot each day: "of course you can" "I'm going to play my rums (drums)" "That's funny, am I funny" "Sammy no hair wash" "Look at me mum" "Everybody clap, come on, lets clap"
I asked Laura how he is getting on at playgroup and if he is being good and this is her reply: Sam was really making me laugh. He is so in love with the twins-he strokes their hair saying "i love you" and when you ask him if they are his friends he says, "yes, i love her" to each of them! He has 2 girls on the go!! Very sweet.

All the way from the USA and Bang bang!!
This morning I woke up with a stinking cold but had arranged to go on a run with Cala, unfortunately we only managed 2.5 miles! Better than nothing! When I returned home Daisy and Daddy went to church whilst Sam and I hung out at home and did the prep for a roast dinner as we had Nanny Maureen and Jane and Tom from America coming for lunch.
I havent seen Jane for nearly two and a half years and it was like it was yesterday. We had a lovely afternoon with them and they bought us some treats from the US including two great big bags of M&Ms which Tim is tucking into as I write this. So a huge THANK YOU to Jane ( not Tim for eating the M&M's)!
Jane has been a friend of my mum's since I was a teenager, she used to work for North West and was always flying here so I used to see her often, she was around when I learnt to drive, met my husband, got married, had my children. It wasnt until today I realised how much I miss seeing her and Sylvia, it made me feel quite sad!
After a big Sunday lunch, Aunty Jo and Uncle Murphy popped in and had bought Sam's birthday present with them. Let's put it this way he is over the moon with it, see pics below and played them non stop until he went to bed and is currently asleep holding the sticks!!
We have had a busy week/weekend so it was an early night for the little people and daddy whilst I went to the movies with my friend Martine to see Julie & Julia - interesting concept but too long and not a great ending... did they ever meet?

Extreme...
The parker's were up nice and early this morning as the little people fell asleep at 5pm last night and had slept through the night so it was a 5.30am wake up call. I decided to take advantage of this and hit the supermarket before it got busy. When I returned Daddy was tired so he took a nap whilst the little people and I did some chores and had a lovely cooked breakfast.
We left the house around lunch time and took a stroll along the beach with our target location being the Extreme Air sports festival on Mederia Drive. We didnt realise how hot it was and were all rather hot and bothered by the time we got to the King Alfred and stopped for a paddle in the sea (probably the last for this year) and some snacks. We then headed off again and finally reached our destination 2 hours after setting off from home.
We thought we had a free pass to get into the festival only to be told that it had to be picked up the night before which was a total rip off but we could all go in at £45 each!! More Extreme expense festival. All we wanted to do was spend an hour or so watching some of the sports. So we walked up to the parade over looking the drive to find they had fenced it all off so you couldnt see anything! I ask what is the point of having this festival in Brighton, what does it bring to the city? I don't think the organisers would have been too happy as it wasnt very busy. I feel sorry for the young people of Brighton that probably just wanted to watch some skateboarding or BMX'ing!
We then walked up to Churchill Square where Daddy collected his phone and then got the bus home. We sat at the fron of the bus which is something I have not done in a long while and thought it was rather scary (I must be getting old). Sam loved every minute of it though!
I must say the little people were fantastic, they walked at least four miles and did not moan once. Sam was brillant we did not have to tell him off for running off or not holding hands, he really has grown up in the past few weeks.
We were all shattered by the time we got home and just chilled. The little people were cuddled, read a story and put to bed and us big people had our friends John and Sarah round for a curry suppa.
