The smell of Autumn
Daddy, Sam and Daisy were in the garden after tea and as I looked out to call them in I could smell and feel the cold of Autumn in the air!
It's a miracle it still works...
About eighteen years ago my mum bought me a sewing machine. Now those that know me know that I am not generally a person that sews but over the years the machine has come in handy. For the past four years it has lived at the bottom of the airing cupboard and as I am now a stay at home mum I have a bit more time on my hands so that I would bring it to life again, starting with some dinosaur party bags. I havent been able to find any party bags for Sam's party at the end of the month so I thought I would make them!
I started with a pile of Dinosaur fabric and brown ribbon and after dusting off the sewing machine and having a few practise run's I produce the first bag... pretty pleased with myself right now. Pics are below:
Sam is happly telling anyone that will listen that is birthday is in Nocktober... meaning October. Another little cute word that he will soon correct himself as he is growing up so quickly, it will be gone with wove for love, nanan for banana and gog gog for yogurt!

Eight years today!
It's been a busy weekend. Tim and I celebrated eight years together this weekend so as a surprise I took Tim away for the evening on Friday to Hotel De Vin in Tunbridge wells. The little people stayed home with Nanny Maureen. Tim and I had a great relaxing time, we had dinner at the hotel, watched a movie and then enjoyed a lie in and a nice quiet undisturibed breakfast! We headed home around lunch time on Saturday and then just hung out at home for the rest of the day. As it was a lovely hot day and unfortunately our paddling pool had been carted off to the tip I put the sprinkler on and the little people had a great time jumping through the water.
Sunday was another busy day as I did a car boot sale with some stuff that has just been hanging around the house for ages, unfortunately it wasnt very busy and we only made £60- better than nothing. As Daddy says "we made £60 on the way to the charity shop/tip."
Daisy then had Jess's 'Hairspray' party in the afternoon and we back combed her hair into a bee hive, it turned out great, actually better than it looks in the photo and she was happy with it (she looks sad in the pic). Nanny Anne and Grandad popped in late afternoon and Daisy showed everyone how she has learnt to ride her bike without stablisers. Well done Daisy.

On the hunt for dinosaurs...
With the little lady at school and the fella at playgroup I had a few hours to spare. Now I should have done some housework but went into town instead. Sam's birthday is coming up and he wants a dinosaur party. Unfortunately everywhere I have been has nothing dinosaur themed and all the stuff on the internet and even ebay is really expensive. I was fortunate enough to get all the tablewear in a dino theme from the pound store near Nanny Maureen but I was missing pary bags, prizes and games, etc.
My first stop was fabric land where I purchased some great dinosaur fabric and ribbon to match. Tonight I am going to dig out my sewing machine and attempt to make some bags with this material!!! Next stop was the pound shop on Western Road, unfortuantely nothing not even anything from the Halloween department. Then it was C&H fabrics where I bought some light plaster and a mould (I am going to set mini dinosaurs in the plaster in an egg shape) and we will play hunt the dino egg with these and the children can break them open. I then went to a random shop where they had a tub of dinosaurs at £1.99 - wey hay on ebay these have been going for £5+. Then it was to Early Learning where I got a tub of 48 mini dinosaurs for the plaster eggs, etc for £7 - result I was all dino sorted. I then got some paint and white vinger for the erupting valcano we are planning. A successful dino shopping trip. Daddy also picked uphe used coffee from Cafe Nero so we can make the fossils. We now have everything for the party. All I need to do is make it all!!!

The school summer holidays are offically over...
The little fella went back to playgroup this morning. He was happy to see his friends but then wouldnt let go of me. I handed him over to Laura for a cuddle so I could escape. Sam sat down to a table and started playing with friends and I got caught for a chat with one of the other mum's and Sam spotted me. He ran straight over and I thought I was never going to escape without him getting upset, but he ran shouting "mum, mum, kiss, cuddle" which we did and then he said "I wove you mum" which made my heart melt. He is such a loving and caring little man.

Run, church and undercliff walk
This morning whilst Sam and Daisy went to church with Daddy I went for a run with Cala. To read about the trials and tribulations of me training for a marathon read my new running blog: Run Fi Fi Run at http://fionatrainsforamarathon.blogspot.com/
The weather was baking hot this morning but by the time we had all returned home it had become very overcast so we had some lunch before heading out for a walk on the Under Cliff walk from Brighton Marina to Rottingdean. The sun came out for our walk and we returned to the marina to have delicious Italian ice cream for the little people and a tea, coffee and cake for Tim and I.
We then headed up to Aunty Jo and Uncle Murphy's where the children seemed extremely excited and very loud!! Sam dug up some carrots with Uncle Murphy for us to take home, on the note of home we thought it was best to leave them in peace and came home to give the little people suppa and put them to bed before Tim and I snuggled up in front of a movie.

Bargains and skate parks
Everyone was up nice and early today!! Where have those Saturday morning lie in's disappeared too? Daddy stayed at home with the little people whilst Charlie and I headed off to a car boot sale in Shoreham. This is a new adventure for me as I have sold at car boots but never gone as a buyer. As I am now a housewife and not working the Parker's have to budget and where as before when working I would just head for the shops now I have to be more creative with our pennies.
So what was I on the look out for, well I drove there dreaming that there would be a handsome man with his big BMW 4x4 selling off all his ex girlfriends designer handbags, her size 7 designer shoes and all her designer clothes that happen to be all in my size because she had cheated on him and because he was so angry he gave me the lot for a tenner!! OK dream over, I was there looking for a scooter for Sam for the school run as he has out grown his Thomas one.
After five minutes of being there I declared I love car boot sales (as long as its a good one), piles and piles of books at 50p each and boxes of dvd's and of course there is also some real old tat. Anyway I came away with a cool spiderman figure at 50p, some wooden train track and trains (you can never have enough track) at £2 and a four boys tops (Next and GAP) at £2.50 - some great bargains. Charlie scored a computer moniter and a beautiful violin at £10 for Sam's birthday (Sam wants to play the violin like his Grandad).
When we got back Daddy, Daisy and Charlie headed off to the skate park in Crawley as Daisy had her first skate lesson! They had a great time but Daisy wasnt keen and spent most of the time on her scooter. Daddy had taken my car keys as well with him so we were home bound until they returned.
We went over to pick up Nanny Maureen before heading over to see Aunty Debby is unfortunately poorly at the moment with her eye - Get Well Soon.
